Sept. 8: Darren Tuck, 26, of Pahrump hands over a video tape to the Nye County Sheriff's Office showing a young girl being sexually assaulted. Sept. 19: Tuck is arrested and booked on charges of possession of child pornography. After a nine-day incarceration, he is released on his own recognizance. Sept. 23: After two weeks of checking every outlet available to them, the sheriff's office decides to release still images of the little girl in the video in an effort to identify her. A nationwide search begins as tips from all over the world come pouring in. Images of Chester Stiles, as yet unidentified, released to the media as well. Sept. 25: In continuing efforts to identify the victim, her name is released to the press. Stiles named as "a person of interest." Sept. 26: The victim is found safe in Las Vegas. Stiles officially becomes a suspect. The case is transferred to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, because the assault is confirmed to have taken place in Las Vegas. Sept. 30: Tuck is taken into custody for violating his parole on a failure to pay child support charge. Oct. 12: Tuck formally charged with one count of possession of child pornography by Nye County District Attorney's Office. Appears in Fifth District Court for probation violation, but does not receive bail or get released. Oct. 13: Just hours from being placed on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list, Stiles is caught in Henderson at 7 p.m. after routine traffic stop on the white Buick Century he had been living in for weeks. Admits to officers his identity and is booked into the Clark County Detention Center for 21 counts including lewdness with a child under 14 and numerous counts of sexual assault. |
