The Pahrump Valley High School volleyball team, its chances of qualifying for the Southern Nevada Class 3-A regionals disintegrating, is at home today against defending league and regional champion Las Vegas Faith Lutheran.

The best-of-five match begins at 5 p.m. in the high school gym.

Coach Amy Hart's team is 0-4 in the league, after bowing 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 to visiting Boulder City Tuesday and falling to 10-16 in all matches with its sixth loss in seven starts.

The top four teams qualify for the regionals (which will be played Nov. 2 at Boulder City), to advance to the first round, teams in recent seasons have needed at least three victories to get the No. 4 seed. Which means, the PVHS girls have to win three of its last four league starts to get to at least that point.

The Lady Trojans travel to Mesquite Virgin Valley Tuesday, to Boulder City Oct. 25 and to Overton Moapa Valley Oct. 29.

On Oct. 19-20, PVHS goes to Apple Valley Granite Hills, Calif., for an invitational tournament.

Beatty's volleyball team, which swept a doubleheader from Indian Springs Friday, is at home against Round Mountain today, starting at 3 p.m. The Lady Hornets are in contention for a Class A playoff berth out of the Central Division.

In boys' soccer Tuesday, Pahrump Valley stayed in contention for a high seed in the Southern 3-A regionals (Nov. 1 and 3 at Las Vegas) with a 6-1 rout of Boulder City Tuesday.

The Trojans, 6-2 in the league, play at Virgin Valley Tuesday, are at home against Lake Mead Christian Academy Thursday and Faith Lutheran Oct. 23, before closing the regular season Oct. 25 at Virgin Valley.

The PVHS girls' soccer team lost 4-0 at Boulder City Tuesday, sustaining its first setback of the season and dropping the Trojans to 3-1-2 in South 3-A matches.

The girls play at Virgin Valley Tuesday, at Faith Lutheran Oct. 23, at home against Virgin Valley Oct. 25, and against Moapa Valley at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex in Las Vegas Oct. 29.

The PVHS boys' and girls' cross country teams will compete in the Southern 3-A League meet Saturday at Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas. The competition begins at 7:30 a.m.
