Pahranagat Valley Alamo and Tonopah remained 1-2 in the Pahrump Valley Times Nevada High School football eight-man football ratings for games played through Oct. 7.

The Panthers, two-time state Class A champions, are 5-1, as is Tonopah, which is going after a fourth consecutive Central Division championship, as well as a trip to the playoffs for four straight years.

Coleville, Calif., 7-0, is ranked third, with another Central Division team, Indian Springs, fourth at 5-2.

Calvary Chapel, ranked sixth, travels to Alamo today in the feature Class A game. Tonopah goes to Dixie State College in St. George, Utah, to battle Beaver Dam of Littlefield, Ariz., Saturday night.

In Class 3-A, Mesquite Virgin Valley, the 2006 state playoff champion, is still ranked first, ahead of neighborhood rival Overton Moapa Valley. The Bulldogs are 6-1, while the Pirates are 5-2.

Truckee, Calif., 5-1, is at No. 3, with Sparks, 4-1, ranked fourth.

No. 5 Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, 4-3, plays at Pahrump Valley today at 7 p.m. in the Homecoming game for the Trojans, 0-5-1.

Fernley, formerly ranked No. 1, dropped out of the ratings after falling to 0-2 in the Northern League. Spring Creek, No. 6 this week, plays at Fernley tonight.

In Class 4-A, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman and Reno-area power Galena are tied for the top spot. The Gaels are 5-0, while the Northern League Grizzlies are 7-0.

Ranked No. 3 is Las Vegas Palo Verde, 6-0, with Del Sol, also 6-0, at No. 4.

Del Sol and No. 6 Silverado collide tonight.

In Class 2-A, Pershing County Lovelock is No. 1 at 6-0, with 2006 state runnerup Lincoln County, 5-1, at No. 2. Yerington, 5-1; Las Vegas The Meadows, 4-2, and defending state champion Rite of Passage, 5-1, are at Nos. 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

Two of the top games today are Rite of Passage at No. 7 Battle Mountain and Lincoln County at The Meadows.
