Fake 'victim' now suspect
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
Alicia Cook, 40, of Pahrump was arrested and booked on charges of embezzlement and filing a false police report after she got caught in an apparent lie. Cook was arrested Monday after deputies were dispatched to the Bank of America on Highway 160. Upon arriving, Cook told the deputies that she had been making a deposit for the Smart Style Hair Salon in Wal-Mart, where she was employed. Cook claimed that, upon exiting her vehicle, she was accosted at gunpoint by an unknown individual who demanded money. When the alleged "victim" was questioned further at the sheriff's office, however, her story began to unravel. According the sheriff's office, further investigation revealed that the robbery never occurred and Cook had allegedly taken funds from her employer. The "victim" soon became a suspect and was arrested on the above-mentioned charges. Her bail was not given. |
