PV boys, Dean prevail

Pahrump Valley's boys won the Virgin Valley Cross Country Invitational Small School meet Saturday, scoring a near perfect 20 points to defeat Overton Moapa Valley (37).

The three-mile run was won by Josh Thompson of Moapa Valley in 19:06.3, with Sam Sylvester of the host Bulldogs second in 19:16.

Five of the next six runners were from Pahrump Valley.

David Jacobi was third in 21:01.3; James Lucas was fourth in 21:15.7; David Binderim was fifth in 21:33.2; Alex Anderson was seventh in 22:16.0, and Danie Spradlin was eighth in 22:32.5.

Connor Chenevert, Gabe Veloz, Noah Poulos, Dylan Dance, Josh Armendariz, Ben Rencher and Jimmy Suber also competed for coach Andy Andersen's team.

In the Large School meet, Robert Deguchi of Las Vegas won in 18:19.6, but Vo-Tech won the team title with 25 points. Las Vegas had 30.

McKenzie Dean of Pahrump Valley won the Small School race in 22:12.9, with teammates Ashley Wolf finishing fourth (27:48.6) and Pam Hunter ninth (37:17.5), respectively.

In the Big School race, Chrystelle Schultz of Vo-Tech won in 22:06.8. Vo-Tech won the team title with 16 points. Las Vegas had 32 and Bishop Gorman 54.
