Dean wins Angel Park main

McKenzie Dean won the 11th-grade girls race in the Angel Park Cross Country Invitational Saturday, in Las Vegas.

The Pahrump Valley runner toured the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 58 seconds, to beat Andrea Lawrence of Australia (23:12).

David Jacobi of Pahrump Valley ran the course in 20:01 to lead Trojan 10th graders. James Lucas was timed in 20:43.

The Trojans were to run at Las Vegas Legacy today and compete in the Virgin Valley Invitational at Mesquite Saturday.

In volleyball, the Pahrump Valley girls lost 25-22, 25-23, 10-25, 25-23 to Lake Mead Christian Academy Thursday.

The Lady Trojans hosted Overton Moapa Valley Tuesday and will be at home against Virgin Valley Friday in Southern Nevada Class 3-A League matches.

There are no standings for the Southern Nevada 3-A League in volleyball.

Beatty's volleyball team swept Henderson International School Friday and is to play at Indian Springs in a Central 1-A division doubleheader Friday, starting at 3 p.m.

In boys soccer, Pahrump Valley split league matches against Las Vegas The Meadows (bowing 1-0) and Moapa Valley (winning 3-0).

Alex Fonseca scored twice and Tyler Raymer once for Pahrump Valley, in the win against Moapa Valley.

The Trojans are 5-2-0 in the league to rank second behind unbeaten Faith Lutheran, 5-0. Boulder City is 3-2-1, Lake Mead Christian Academy 3-3-0, Moapa Valley 1-4-1 and Virgin Valley 0-3-0.

The top four teams qualify for the Southern regionals, to be played Nov. 1 and 3 at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex on the Cimarron-Memorial High School campus in Las Vegas.

In girls soccer, Pahrump Valley is 3-0-2 to hold first place in the league. The Trojans were to play at home against Moapa Valley Saturday, but officials did not appear, despite the contest being on the association's schedule.The game is tentatively scheduled to be played Oct. 15 on the Trojans' field.

Faith Lutheran is 3-1-1, while Boulder City is 3-0-1. Moapa Valley is 1-4-0, with Virgin Valley at 0-3-0. White Pine is 1-3-0.

The first four teams in the final standings will qualify for the Nov. 1 and 3 regionals in Las Vegas.
