PRCA RODEO AT FALL FESTIVAL

Three go-arounds at McCullough

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo will be featured Friday, Saturday and Sunday in McCullough Arena, during the Pahrump Fall Festival.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will present two nights and one afternoon of action in McCullough Arena, during the Pahrump Fall Festival Friday through Sunday. Steer wrestling will be one of the events.

Arguably the best professional sports action to appear each year in Pahrump happens at the Fall Festival, when the PRCA Dodge Circuit Rodeo is contested in McCullough Arena.

And for two nights (Friday and Saturday) and one afternoon (Sunday), many of the best competitors in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association will be riding horses and bulls and wrestling steers in the Basin Street arena.

The rodeo begins at 8 p.m. Friday, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12; for the Friday and Saturday go-arounds, children get in free with a paying adult.

Tickets are on sale in advance at Ace Hardware, Shadow Mountain Feed, and the Chamber of Commerce. The gates open 90 minutes before the rodeo starts.

Nevada is in the Dodge PRCA Wilderness circuit, which includes Utah and Idaho.

Wesley Silcox, Payson, Utah, has earned $27,360 in bull riding. He is almost $14,000 ahead of Shawn Proctor, Tooele, Utah ($13,629). In third with $12,2309 is Ryan Wright of Midway, Utah.

Nate Baldwin, Blackfoot, Idaho, is the tie-down roping leader with $20,974, and he tops the all-around list with with $21,563;

As of the moment, the money leaders in the Wildnerness circuit, and potential competitors in Pahrump, include:

Nancy Hunter, Neola, Utah, barrel racing, $15,763;

Cody Wright, Milford, Utah, saddle bronc, $17,685;

Walt Woodard, Stockton, Calif., team roping heelers, $13,375;

Coby Siddoway, Hooper, Utah, team roping heading, $12,156;

Craig Smith, West Haven, Utah, steer wrestling, $15,466;

Jess Davis, Payson, Utah, $14,684.

No steer roping standings were available for the Wildnerness circuit on its Web site, prorodeo.org.

Nevadans expected to compete in McCullough include the Adams family of Logandale.

Randon Adams, a team roping heeler has earned $8,363 this season.

Austin Adams of Logandale is 10th at $4,895.

Team roping header Jay Adams is ninth at $5,242.

Cody Hintz of Spring Creek is 20th at $3,451 in team roping heeler.

Other Silver State competitors include:

Trent Coates, Spring Creek, bareback riding (11th, $2,736);

Paul Jones, Elko, bareback, (14th, $1,783);

Bryan Jones, Elko, bareback, (17th, $1,310);

John Wright, Elko, bareback, ($1,202); Wright is also ranked 17th in all round, with $3,979.

Jake Wade, Pahranagat Valley, bull riding (11th, $6,936);

Max Fillippini, Battle Mountain, saddle bronc (10th, $3,957);

Matt Morrison, Wells, saddle bronc (11th, $3,451);

Jess Jones, Spring Creek, saddle bronc (12th, $3,100);

John Wright, Elko, saddle bronc, (14th, $2,777);

Joe Heguy, Elko, saddle bronc, (16th, $2,382);

Ross Wines, Ruby Valley, saddle bronc, (18th, $1,925);

Ira Szelagowski, Carlin, saddle bronc, (22nd, $1,101).

The rodeo clown will be Jeff (Slim) Garner, who works up to 35 rodeos each season.
