It was all about the money at the Sept. 25 Pahrump Town Board meeting, as the panel approved financing for a number of happenings about town.

The proposed Pahrump Arts and Recreation Center, a complex slated to include a rodeo arena, sports park, and convention center on the fairgrounds, is slowly but surely getting under way.

The board approved an agreement with Leisure and Recreation Concepts (LARC) for $8,000 to prepare a master plan for the project.

LARC is the same company that proposed the two theme parks slated to be built on the fairgrounds as well. They include a water amusement park and a western-themed park.

Under the agreement, LARC will prepare a master plan involving all 425 acres of the fairgrounds, which will be used to provide development recommendations and prepare an estimated construction and phasing budget.

Funding will come from the Fairgrounds Room Tax Fund.

Pahrump Valley Disposal's ledgers are all in order, according to the town's audit firm, Daniel C. McCarthur Ltd.

As determined through the disposal company's franchise agreement with the town, PVD must undergo an audit at least once every three years.

McCarther informed the board that PVD was in full compliance in regards to it's franchise fees for 2004 through 2006.

This weekend's Fall Festival is guaranteed to be well-attended and well-organized as the board approved six agreements for promotion and logistics.

The $31,477 will fund advertising on Coyote Country Radio, agreements with Joe's Sanitation and Pahrump Valley Disposal, as well as Strong Arm Security and the Pahrump Senior Center.

Services will be allocated from Fall Festival proceeds.
