Letters to the Editor
Fair elections There may be a lot of familiar faces in the upcoming Justice of the Peace race, but this election will be quite different. As a voter, candidate and veteran, I demand that we have an honest and fair election in Pahrump and Nye County. Recent elections in Nye County have been quite strange, because we have dead people voting, boxes of absentee ballots appear out of nowhere and we even had a candidate who received zero votes. This un-American, criminal behavior must be removed from our election process. Honest elections are the foundation of all the freedoms we possess and this is why many American patriots have fought and died. Voter fraud should be considered a terrorist act because it can effect an enormous amount of people and should never be tolerated. To insure and accurate vote count, the County Clerk should explain how the votes are counted and allow monitors from all the political parties to view the actual count. The mail in absentee ballots should receive special attention because this is how dead people vote. If a recount is needed, the paper roll in the voting machine should be hand counted to make sure these votes match the number coming from the machine and there should never be a charge for this process. I am sure we have plenty of patriotic Americans who will volunteer to be vote count monitors and this will insure that our elected officials are truly elected by the people. LOUIS DECANIO Ron Paul for president Wake up Pahrump, wake up America! Ron Paul must be elected President of the United States. Paul's ideology hits smack dab on the average American citizen. The majority of Americans are middle class hourly wage earners. This group is Paul's voting block. Paul must win this group. He can do so by informing the middle class that his agenda is necessary in order for the working stiff to succeed and enjoy a prosperous life style. Paul must inform the voter he is not in the clutches of corporate America. Paul must emphasize his agenda is targeted toward the wage earner. As a physician, his concern is the health and well being of the patient regardless of race, color, creed or financial status. The Hippocratic Oath is heal all who come before him. Paul is not a hot shot lawyer politician. The lawyers in office today are not interested in the "small fry," you and I. Their corporate agenda is for the wealthy. Ask yourself, where are the huge contributions coming from? Corporate America that's where. Those large sums of money are ear marked to the "legal beagle" most likely to ensure success and tax benefits for the wealthy Lets be realistic. The professional skilled trades person is paying more in taxes than most corporate managers and CEOs. Is this right? Hell no it ain't! The "small fry" cannot afford to hire high priced attorneys to discover loop holes in the tax system which benefits the wealthy. Paul is the guy that will be an asset to the hard working American. Paul plans to revamp the tax system as we know it and abolish the Federal Reserve. Paul is in our corner, the worker that is. JOSEPH BANCROFT To the people of Pahrump Thank you very much for your generous response to the Catholic Charities food drive conducted at Albertson's Nov. 1-8. Another thank you is in order for your response to KNYE 95.1 FM's request for food donations at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Nov. 17. To the individuals: S Owen, K. Pierce and S. Sawyer, who won turkeys from KNYE 95.1 FM and turned around and donated them back to the food banks, thank you for your generous gesture. Finally, a very special thank you to the parishioners of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church for your continued support of the food bank. All these donations filled baskets for Thanksgiving for many families in the community. You all have a true understanding of sharing with the less fortunate of Pahrump. I wish you all a belated happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. May God bless you all. ROBERT F. GAVAN Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church Food Bank Coordonator |
