Great Basin receives financial aidSPECIAL TO THE PVT
Kurt and Katie Neddenriep have invested in the future of Elko and communities throughout rural Nevada by creating two scholarships with Great Basin College Foundation. In 2005, the Neddenrieps decided to give a donation that would support three important organizations in Elko and strengthen the future of those their gift would benefit. The pair established the two scholarships for students enrolling at Great Basin College. With matching funds from their employers, the value of their gift triples. The first, The Neddenriep Family Boys and Girls Club Scholarship, benefits employees and volunteers at the Elko Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Neddenriep is a past President of the Elko Boys and Girls Club and Mrs. Neddenriep has served as Secretary to the Board. Mr. Neddenriep is a Major in the Nevada National Guard. His commitment to the Guard reaches beyond his own service. He and his wife established the Neddenriep Family National Guard Dependents Scholarship for dependents of those serving in the Nevada National Guard. The scholarship provides much needed support to families who have made great sacrifices for the security of the nation. The Neddenriep's donations to the scholarship are matched 100 percent by both of the couple's employers, Morgan Stanley and Barrick Gold of North America. The matching gifts triple the amount of scholarship dollars available to Great Basin College students. The Neddenrieps contribute to the scholarship fund bi-annually. Kurt Neddenriep, CIMA?, is Vice President, Wealth Advisor, Senior Consultant, ICS for Morgan Stanley. Katie Neddenriep is Superintendent of Human Resources for Barrick Bald Mountain Mine. Morgan Stanley and Barrick North America are two of many organizations in rural Nevada that match their employees' charitable donations. Great Basin College has a campus in Pahrump, on Calvada Blvd. at the high school. |
