Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, ranked No. 1 in the final Pahrump Valley Times Nevada High School football Class 4-A ratings, will play No. 4 Reno McQueen for the championship Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Bishop Gorman, 13-0, and the Lancers, 13-1, advanced with semifinal victories Saturday.

The Gaels rallied in the final period to edge previously unbeaten and No. 3 ranked Palo Verde 24-20 for the Southern title, while McQueen used Las Vegas mistakes to oust the defending champion but unranked Wildcats 34-20.

In earlier playoff games, McQueen eliminated unranked Reno North Valleys, No. 6 Sparks Reed and No. 8 Galena. Gorman moved on with wins against unranked Cimarron-Memorial and Cheyenne.

Class 3-A No. 1-ranked and defending state champion Mesquite Virgin Valley lost 35-14 to No. 3 Overton Moapa Valley in the playoff finals.

Class 2-A No. 3 Needles, Calif., edged No. 2 Yerington 18-14 in the playoff finals. No. 1 Pershing County Lovelock lost 26-24 in a first-round game to defending state champion Yerington Rite of Passage.
