Letters to the Editor
On the road in five minutes Thanks to the highway patrolman who stopped when he saw that I needed help. This happened on Monday morning of Nov. 5 on highway 160 about three miles west of highway 159. I had a flat tire and I called the Good Sam Club and she (the operator) said that I would have a tow service, I think by the name of Poppy Lock, there in about 45 minutes. I waited two hours and Good Sam Club called and said that Poppy Lock would not come out but they would send someone else. About an hour later, Good Sam Club called again and said they would send someone from North Las Vegas that would be there in about an hour. By this time, I had lost track of time. A highway patrolman stopped and I told him I had a service coming and needed no help, but he said "open your trunk and I'll have you on the road in five minutes." And he did. I called Good Sam Club to cancel and said a few other things too. I didn't get the officer's name, but I sure thank him for his help. I do not want anyone saying anything about the highway patrol. If it wasn't for him, I probably would still be out there. Thank you Sir, for the help. JACK H. PALMER Thanks Pahrump Three cheers to the United Way of Pioneer Territory and the Cheers for Volunteers event Friday, Nov. 2 at Saddle West Hotel and Casino. Everyone had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed the celebration of volunteering displayed in our wonderful community. Nathan Adelson Hospice and the Volunteer Program would like to thank United Way and the community of Pahrump for recognizing the work our volunteers do every day. The volunteers were delighted and surprised to find out that they were being honored in such a special way. They had not been told that they were nominated. The fact that so many of our organizations work together for the good of our community is a special treat. Whether it is supporting each other's events, working together to provide food and goods to our lower income families or spending an evening together celebrating being a part of this community is an honor and a gift. Take time to be a volunteer, take time to give back to your community. Enjoy the companionship of generous, like-minded people. Take time to be a part of Pahrump. It's a wonderful community full of wonderful people. Thank you, United Way of Pioneer Territory, and thank you Pahrump.
