A moratorium on parcel map applications outside the Pahrump Regional Planning District will be up for consideration during a special meeting of the Nye County Commission at 1:30 p.m. this coming Tuesday.

The moratorium would be to allow time to update the division of land regulations. Amargosa Valley Town Board Chairwoman Jan Cameron complained to county commissioners about a rush of parceling lots.

Among other county business, commissioners will consider a contract extension with Entrix Consultants to complete the Pahrump multi-species habitat conservation plan.

Developers would be required to submit conceptual site development plans for zoning requests under another bill up for adoption.

The commission will consider a request to rename the private entrance drive to the Calvada Eye "Walt Williams Drive." They will consider renaming the northwest corner of the intersection of Highway 160 and 372 "Mankins Corner."

Special contracts are up for approval. Commissioners will consider hiring Frank Cremen as a special prosecutor to prosecute AnnJett Switzer, a former Nye County district attorney's office employee.

Walt Kuver, with Directed Solutions LLC, would be hired for $75 per hour, up to a maximum of $35,000, to provide professional services in support of project management, under another agenda item.

Commissioners will consider increasing a contract with Mark J. Ricciardi, from the law firm Fisher and Phillips, by $50,000 for employer labor services, thereby increasing his maximum contract to $150,000.

Nye County's consulting hydro-geologist Tom Buqo would receive an increase of $47,251 to $272,281 to complete a contract, funded through a groundwater earmark grant.

Spotlight on Pahrump and the Veterans of Foreign Wars have asked for permission to hold a Holiday Lights Christmas Parade beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 8, starting on Honeysuckle Drive and Dandelion Streets. It would proceed to Calvada Boulevard, around the Calvada Eye and back to Honeysuckle Park.

Commissioners will consider bids to demolish the Gabbs recreation center. It is being considered as a community center.
