The Moronix are headed this way once again. This time they will get the party going at Saddle West. The show starts at 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16.

The seven-piece band has been together for three years, playing mostly Las Vegas and Boulder City. This is their second trip to Pahrump and band leader Tony Perriera said, "We're really looking forward to it. The last time we had a gig up there it was a lot of fun."

They have a lot of variety in their style of music. Perriera said, "We play all kinds of music. For most audiences we do light rock and blues, but Pahrump seems to lean more toward country and we do that too."

Everything from old country like Willie Nelson to newer music made famous by Rascal Flatts is part of their song list.

The members of the band met in Las Vegas and all have other full-time jobs. There's a lawyer, a couple of stone masons, a postal worker, a couple of administrative types, and Perriera works as a troubleshooter for a major health organization.

"We aren't trying to find a 'label,'" Perriera said. "We do this because we love it. We're a good club band. All of our members are good musicians and have been playing for years."

Like most bands, there are some substitutions and when they lose one musician, another comes along to fill that place. Current members are: Perriera on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Art Martinez on bass, Bill Allen on lead guitar and vocals, Michael Snyder on lead guitar and vocals, Jimmy and Aldo on percussion and drums and Troy Jones on keyboards.

Jimmy and Aldo are the newest members -- so new, in fact, Perriera couldn't remember their last names.

So far, the band has only made a partial demo of their original music, and they are not planning to produce a full CD any time soon.

The band is out to suit the crowd with their music and "mostly have a good time."

They are supposed to play from 9 to midnight, but if the "crowd is having fun, we'll stay and keep playing," Perriera said.

The show is free. The Moronix' Web site is under construction and not much information is available. For questions, call Saddle West at 727-1111.
