J.G. Johnson Elementary School is coming together as a school to help the six children of the family who lost everything in a fire Tuesday morning.

The home where James and Heather Pope lived on Shady Lane and Woodchips Road was engulfed in flames leaving the family, with six children ages 10 and under, with nothing but the clothes on their back.

All six children attend J.G. Johnson where donations for the family are being collected.

Both clothing and monetary donations are being accepted at the school's front office (see chart).

Fire Chief Scott Lewis said the fire was unintentional but the cause has yet to be determined.

Lewis said an ignition point was identified, but there were two possibilities as to what could have caused the fire.

For more information on donating to the family, contact J.G. Johnson at (775) 727-6619.
