Stargazing party The Tecopa Hot Springs Resort will host the last star party of the season starting at dusk, Nov. 10 at the resort, 860 Tecopa Hot Springs Road. Christmas Pageant The Pahrump Arts Council Theater Guild will present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," at 7 p.m., Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17 in the Pahrump Valley High School auditorium. The story is based on the notorious Herdman family, by Barbara Robinson and features local actors ranging from 2 to 72. Paul Dilella of the Pahrump Valley High School Drama Department will direct. Tickets are $7 for PAC members and students and $10 for adults. Tickets are on sale at Ace Hardware, Pahrump Community Library, the Chamber of Commerce, the PAC office and at the door. Annual Craft Bazaar The Daughters of Mary will hold the Annual Craft Bazaar and outdoor village event from 9-5 p.m.,Nov. 9-10 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 781 S. Gamebird Road. PACTG focus meeting The Pahrump Arts Council Theater Guild will hold the annual focus group meeting, 7-8 p.m., Nov. 14 at the WestCare Prevention office, 2280 E. Calvada Blvd. The meeting is to discuss the selection of shows for the next fiscal year. Public input is welcome, however only PAC members in good standing may vote. Thanksgiving dinner Church on a Mission and Faith Fellowship are scheduling the annual community Thanksgiving dinner from 11-1:30 p.m. at the Bob Ruud Community Center. Musical entertainment will be provided by Rev. Julie Platson from St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church. Everyone is invited. Transportation to and from the dinner may be possible. Winter concert The Pahrump Arts Council will present the annual Winter Concert as a gift to all PAC members and the public at 7 p.m., Dec. 13 in the event center of the Pahrump Nugget. Beta Sigma Phi Thanksgiving The members of Beta Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, will hold a Thanksgiving social at 6 p.m., Nov. 14 at Louise's home. A short meeting will be followed by dinner at 6:30. Pahrump Bike Night change Pahrump Bike Night will change the meeting day and time starting Dec. 1. The first meeting is 1-5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1 at Sonic. Walk-in Flu Shot Clinics The Bureau of Community Health will have flu-shot clinics on the following dates for November. Nov. 13 -- 1-4 p.m. Nov. 14 -- 8:30-4 p.m. Nov. 15 -- 8:30-3 p.m. Nov. 19 -- 8:30-4 p.m. Nov. 20 -- 10-4 p.m. Nov. 21 -- 8:30-11 a.m. Flu shots are offered to adults only. Children will be seen by scheduled appointment. Medicare or Medicaid cards are accepted. Senior Dimensions is accepted only with Medicare. All others will incur a $20 cost for the shot. ARES spotter class The local ARES/RACES group invites interested individuals to attend a Skywarn Spotter Class at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 14 at 1510 Siri Lane. The National Weather Service relies on trained volunteers to supplement Doppler radar data to issue severe weather warnings. DAV meeting The Pahrump Springs chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold the monthly meeting at 10 a.m., Nov. 14 at the Pahrump Community Library. AGLOW meeting AGLOW is an interdenominational international Christian women's organization providing opportunities for Christian women to grow in their faith and administer to others. Sign-up at the library only. The winter reading program continues Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Dec. 18. Tuesday classes are Little pups (ages 2-3), 9:15-9:45 a.m.; Red pups (ages 4-5), 10-10:45 a.m.; Big red (ages 5-12 and Kindergarten), 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday is craft class (5th grade and up), 3:15-4:15 p.m. Movie Day is canceled this month due to the holiday weekend. Benefit trail ride The Nevada Quarter Horse Association will sponsor a trail ride at 8 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11 to benefit Special Olympics. The cost is $40 per person or $70 per family. Non-riders can participate for $15. The price includes lunch and a goody bag. This is also a membership drive for the association and the first 10 registered riders who join NQHA for 2008 will receive a special gift. Charleston Elementary invites the public to help with care packages for the troops in Iraq. During the month of November donations of non-perishables, toiletries, reading material and other items may be dropped off at the school between 8:30 and 3 p.m. on weekdays. New church offers fellowship The Church of the Redeemed is having the first annual fellowship program at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 11, at the Artesia Community Clubhouse, Fox and Kellogg. Dr. Julian Turner from Phoenix, Ariz. will be the guest speaker and the Turner Singers will be featured as guest artists. Annual coat drive The most requested gift from Santa is a warm coat. Drop off your new and gently used coats until Dec. 15 at Mankins Allstate Insurance, 1271 S. Hwy. 160 (across from Saddle West) or Dream Homes, 3100 S. Hwy. 160, during business hours. The coats will be donated to No to Abuse for distribution to the children and teenagers of Pahrump. OHV workshop Off-highway vehicle enthusiasts, land managers and other stakeholders are invited to a two-day workshop on off-highway vehicle use in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area 9-5 p.m., Nov. 30 and 9-4:30 p.m., Dec. 1 at the Mountain Falls Golf Club, 5001 Fox Ave. The workshop will assist the U.S. Forest Service and community members to work together as partners to steward the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area off-highway vehicle trails system. Horseback riders, hikers and mountain bikers are also welcome to attend. Continental breakfast, lunch and breaks will be provided. Registration is required on line by logging on to www.nohvcc.org and click on the "Forest Service OHV Designation Workshops and Database" link. Registration deadline is Nov. 23. Eastern Star Bazaar The annual Eastern Star Bazaar will be 9-3 p.m., Nov. 17 at the Masonic Temple, 281 Gemini Drive (off Blagg north of Basin). In addition to the large assortment of crafts, Christmas gifts and baked goods, there will be a patio shop with white elephant items; and as always an assortment of sugar free sweets, sandwiches and coffee. Garden Club meeting The Pahrump Valley Garden Club will meet at 8 a.m., Nov. 10 at the University Extension Office, corner of Calvada and Dandelion. Guests are welcome. Thanksgiving baskets The Salvation Army is now accepting applications for the Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas toys. Thanksgiving food basket application deadline is Nov. 15, and for Christmas, application deadline is Dec. 15. Thanksgiving dinner The American Legion, Post 22 and auxiliary is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner from 5-7 p.m., Nov. 16 at the VFW hall on Homestead Road. Dinner will be free to veterans and $6 for non-veterans. Library book signing There will be a book signing by local author Vivian Lee for her book, "The Picking Field" 10-1 p.m., Nov. 17 at the Pahrump Community Library. The book is the story of LeAnna and her brothers' journey through an early childhood of sex, violence and starvation. Mountain man rendezvous There will be a mountain man competition Nov. 9-12 at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Watch trappers compete with muzzle load rifles and pistols, tomahawk throwing, knife, lance and shooting the Indian bow and use of an atlatl. Christmas Craft Fair There will be a Christmas craft fair 9-3 p.m., Nov. 17 at Desert Greens, 350 W. Wilson Road (between Blagg and Linda) Free "Ty" beanie ducks for the kids while supplies last and raffles every half hour. Everything is handcrafted.
