Air Force on agenda for Town Board meeting
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
Military--and specifically U.S. Air Force--enthusiasts will want to attend the next Pahrump Town Board meeting at the Bob Ruud Community Center on Tuesday, Nov. 13. That's because the U.S. Air Force could be conducting Urban Close Air Support Training in town since the board will be considering a memorandum of understanding with the Department of the Air Force 98 Air Range Wing based at Nellis Air Force Base. Since it's never too late to plan ahead, the board will also consider a multi-year contract with the Bar T Rodeo Company, Inc. for their participation in future Fall Festivals. Residents who look forward to the town's annual fireworks display (or grouse about it not being on the Fourth of July) will want to attend to watch the board consider a proposal from Zambelli Fireworks International regarding next year's patriotic display of fireworks for the town. Attending this meeting could possibly offer insight into how the town schedules the event and why some years having it on the holiday simply isn't feasible. Zambelli has put on the annual show in Pahrump for the past several years. Dog walkers, parents with small children, and loitering teens alike will be interested to know that Petrack and Simkins park could get improved lighting on several of their fields now that service agreements with WillDan Engineering are on the agenda to be considered. If the agreements are approved, WillDan will furnish bid packages, specifications, and plans for Fields A, B, and C in Petrack Park and for Simkins Park in general. |
