Thrift store gains $1,836 donationPVT
The seventh annual chili cook-off hosted by Nevada State Bank was held in Las Vegas last weekend and the $836 in proceeds from the event was donated to the Cancer Victims Thrift Store in Pahrump. "We usually donate our funds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, but I imagine the center has certainly helped its share of breast cancer patients," said event organizer Barbara Hill. "We felt that our dollars would really make a difference for the Pahrump community." Nevada State Bank's management offices donated another $1,000 bringing the total donation to $1,836. The check was presented to the thrift store representative on Nov. 6 at the bank. The thrift store caught fire Sept. 29, destroying one of the buildings. The funds will be used to help rebuild the store. Reimbursement for the fire damage is pending as the insurance company waits for a report from the fire marshal's office. The report is due to be completed next week. |
