Joseph Provenza, 20, was arrested and booked on a number of charges including kidnapping Saturday, Oct. 28.

Provenza is known to locals as the teenager who in May of this year was awarded $41.5 million dollars by a jury after a motor cross accident that resulted in 90-degree burns all over his body.

He sued the company who made the clothing he wore at the time of the accident arguing they failed to be adequately fire-repellent.

In addition, Provenza was the friend Ronya Qutob, 18, was reportedly going to visit before being accidentally shot in the Provenza home in 2006.

Sheriff's office deputies were dispatched to the Horizon Market on Highway 372 and Blagg Road at approximately 9 a.m. for a report of a possible kidnapping.

Upon arriving at the scene, several eyewitnesses told deputies they saw a white female juvenile (later discovered to be Provenza's girlfriend of nine months) exit his car.

After she got out, Provenza allegedly attempted to hit her with the car.

He then got out of the vehicle and allegedly hit her with his fist, knocking the juvenile girl to the ground.

When she was on the ground, Provenza reportedly picked her up and put her over his shoulder, throwing her into the vehicle.

Provenza then left the scene.

Deputies stopped Provenza a short distance later, where K-9 Dep. Hoss indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. Marijuana was then found in the vehicle.

Provenza was booked on a list of charges including kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, driving on a revoked license, possession of marijuana, obstruction, and domestic battery.

His bail amount was $62,049.
