Natural disaster declared
AMARGOSA VALLEY -- Nye County commissioners Tuesday declared a natural disaster after the heavy rain Sept. 21, allowing the use of emergency money from the payment equal to taxes the county receives for the land value of Yucca Mountain.

School board addresses Floyd issues
The Nye County School District Board traveled up to Gabbs for its regular meeting during which several measures furthering the completion of the Pahrump's new Floyd Elementary School were approved.

Nye County will pay deductible over Hollis
The insurance will cover the legal costs of defending Nye County against a lawsuit filed by Nye County Commission Chairman Gary Hollis, but there will still be a $25,000 deductible to pay.

Susan Moore, administrative assistant for the Nye County Department of Natural Resources, said 17 people came in the door to inquire last Friday after they advertised on the marquee that information was available about the wellhead protection program and noxious weeds.

Joseph Provenza, 20, was arrested and booked on a number of charges including kidnapping Saturday, Oct. 28.
