Let me introduce myself - I am a new member of the Pahrump community myself. My wonderful husband and our three beautiful children decided to make the move from Las Vegas to give our family a more secure environment and peaceful existence.

The long-term search for just the right home ended the day we walked into C.R. Homes. We were greeted by such a pleasant atmosphere and a wonderful sales associate, who we now know as a our friend, Kelly.

Kelly not only helped us on every aspect, but also provided us with her private number and was never hesitant to answer a question, no matter what time of day. Thanks to you Kelly, for all your time and thoughtfulness. But wait - it doesn't end there. Bonnie was so very patient, such an amazing person in general. Bonnie - thank you for every change order - every phone call.

Upon completion of our wonderful home, we met Randy. Randy was in a class by himself. He made our new home experience such a pleasant one. We knew as soon as we were done with our walk-through, any doubts or fear we had about making such a tremendous move were gone - we were excited. Thank you Randy for making us feel at home.

Take a stand today

As you read this, advocates from across the country have returned to their homes, after they descended on our nation's capital and demanded change from our elected officials.

I was there here with them, but our voices alone will not make a difference - we need your help. Take a moment to contact your elected officials and demand change.

On LIVESTRONG Day The Cancer Screening, Treatment and Survivorship Act of 2007, was announced. It is a bold step toward applying what we already know in order to save hundreds of thousands of lives. We need your voice as we take this step to make cancer a national priority. Two hundred advocates who visited Capitol Hill will be participated in local LIVESTRONG Day events - even the Empire State Building is going yellow. Yes, the Empire State Building was in yellow lights May 16.

Did you know that one third of all cancer deaths could be prevented by screening, prevention and early detection? The Cancer Screening, Treatment and Survivorship Act of 2007 will make sure screenings are made available earlier and that more research is being done to develop screenings for other types of cancer. Applying what we know is only half the battle. People die every day from terminal cancers such as lung and pancreatic cancer -- but very little is known about how to detect and treat those diseases early enough to decrease mortality.

For these people, research is the answer. So we're calling for targeted research toward cancers for which there is currently no recommended screening. In 1971, there were three million cancer survivors. Now there are more than 10.5 million of us. We're making great strides in the fight against cancer, but now is not the time to rest. Any day can be LiveStrong Day for all of us.
