Several observances as well as a weekend of music and other events are planned for the Memorial Day weekend.

The Marine Corps League invites the community to the dedication of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial from 9-10 a.m. Monday, Memorial Day, at 751 S. Pahrump Valley Blvd. and East Street (next to the Pahrump Library).

The VFW will hold its Memorial Day ceremony, led by VFW Commander Tom Vick, former U.S. Marine, at the cemetery from 10 to 10:45 a.m., following the dedication.

The Pahrump Veterans Memorial is dedicated to those who served, those who are now serving and those who will serve in the military.

All weekend the VFW post and Disabled American Veterans will be hosting a string of events at the VFW's Homestead Road site as part of their Pahrump Summer Music Fest.

Partcipants include Cali Lane, the Pete Contino Band, Tom Saitta & Friends and 11-year-old Tyler Charbonneau.

Seventy vendors will be on hand along with a climbing wall, bunji-jumping, a water slide, food and beverages, an honor guard parade and a variety of family-friendly games.

Tickets at the gate are $10 per day, $5 per day for vets.

Also, the G.G. Sweet Veterans Memorial Park will host Memorial Day services at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of Gamebird Road and Money Street. The high school JROTC will participate.
