Last Friday I got off my "sofa surfing fanny" and wrote a column titled "It's Pahrump ya know."

In defense of the town manager, town board and the county commissioners, I made the statement, "you can't make chicken soup out of chicken s***."

My guess is that the spell checker didn't care for my fill in the letters word and changed it to "chickens," totally butchering (good choice of words) the point I was trying to make.

The point is, there is only so much money in the town and county coffers, and deciding how to spend it would be a nightmarish task for the folks given that duty.

Had I known beforehand, I would have changed the statement to read "you can't make chicken soup out of chicken poop" -- maybe the computer wizard would have accepted that word over my fill-in-the-blanks word. I thank all our devoted readers who caught the mistake.

Pahrump Town Manager Dave Richards said he was on the short list for the Nye County assistant manager position but withdrew his application for the job when he was given notice to appear for an interview.
