After dominating Southern Nevada Class 3-A boys golf all season, the Boulder City Eagles collapsed at the state tournament, played Monday and Tuesday at the Somersett Country Club in Reno.

Taking advantage of the defending state champion Eagles was Las Vegas Faith Lutheran. The Crusaders, led by medalist Charlie Harrison's 76-67--143, shot 422-403--825 to claim their first 3-A state title in boys' golf. Boulder City, the 2006 state champion, finished at 437-415--852.

Harrison's 67 was the only sub-par round shot in the 36-hole medal play tournament contested on the par 72, 6,763-yard course near Reno.

Fernley had 446-419--865, Winnemucca Lowry 442-424--866, and Truckee, Calif., 456-422--878. Shane Lindemann, a freshman, was Pahrump Valley's lone representative; he had 96-102--198 and finished 38th.

For the Crusaders, Yuki Kato had 85-76--161, Matt Bennett 85-87--172, Blake Hampton 85-89--174, Trevor Ensign 89-89--178 and Robson Hauser 107-86--193.

Dusty Craddock, the two-time Southern Nevada player of the year from Boulder City, faded to 83-80--163, well above his season average of 72 strokes per 18-hole round.

Spencer Montgomery had 82-74--156 for the Eagles, whose other scores were Ryan Henderson, 90-82--172; Branden Faircloth, 88-89--177; Mike Badgley, 94-90--184, and Greg Lee, 99-91--190, including a hole-in-one on the par 3, 161-yard 12th hole.

Leading Fernley with 80-75--155 was Brandon Dalton. Joey Dendary had 81-80--161 for Lowry, and Danny Kruck paced Truckee with 85-82--167.

Of the 76 rounds played, only five were at 74 or better; Harrison had a 76 and 67, Dalton 75, Montgomery 74 and Kato 76.

Round Mountain finished third in the state Class 2-A boys' golf tournament, played Tuesday at the Genoa Lakes Golf Resort and Wednesday at the Edgewood-Tahoe Golf Course.

The Knights had 442-461--903 in the 36-hole medal play event, won by Zephyr Cove Whittell with 433-415--848. Second at 436-450--886 was Ely White Pine. Needles, Calif., shot 466-475--941; Wells 464-481--945, and Las Vegas Mountain View Christian 491-489--980.

Mountain View's Kris Sorensen was medalist with 82-74--156, with Chris Robinson of White Pine second with 75-83--158. Kasen Haslem of Round Mountain was third with 78-83--161; teammate Chris Swanson was ninth with 87-84--171.
