TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE

MARK SMITH / PVT
Howard Purden cuts lengths of redwood as a replacement for the pedestrian bridge over the duck pond in the wake of recent vandalism. Nye County Facilities Manager Bob Jones said vandals destroyed a few feet of the walkway on the bridge and part of the railing. The county didn't want to take the chance of someone getting hurt, and Jones said the bridge was getting old anyway. The newly rebuilt bridge will include some supports in the middle as a reinforcement that will make it more difficult for vandals to tear up again, Jones said.
