TECOPA, Calif. -- Tecopa Hot Springs Resort will host a "Star Party" featuring Jason Davis and others from Astrochannels, for viewing the stars and galaxies Friday and Saturday at the resort.

"They'll use the 28-inch Webster and the Mallincams to project the images with a high-resolution and high-contrast digital video projector at a width of about six feet," said John Pawlak. "At that size, the video is excellent at a distance of 50 feet, and is amazingly good at 20 feet for physically zooming in on detail."

Davis and the others from Astrochannels will do live Cosmocasts worldwide during these star parties.

Individuals with telescopes will find there's plenty of room to set up. Call before coming, as that will decide where setup is ultimately determined.

There's lodging at the Hot Springs Resort (www.tecopahotsprings.org) as well as other Tecopa area resorts and bed and breakfasts. There's also lodging at Shoshone Village and lots of camping for trailers, RVs and tents.

Almost on top of the setup location are full hookup RV pads that double well for tents. Contact Amy at www.tecopahotspring.org or call 1-760-852-4420 for more information about camping.

For those unable to attend but have a projector for giant screen home entertainment or for use with a laptop or PC, contact Astrochannels at www.astrochannels.com.

To get there from Pahrump, go east on Highway 160 and turn right on Tecopa Road or head west for Shoshone on Highway 372.

Bring something to sit or lounge in to relax and enjoy the show. Music, a fire or two and food, hot mineral baths will be part of the party.

Most of all, the Star Party is about good people having fun on a desert night with a six-foot screen showing the wonders of the cosmos.

Call 760-852-4420 or visit www.astrochannels.com for more information.
