Brown first in junior golf

Shelby Brown defeated Aubrey Erickson in a playoff to win the 7-8 girls division in a Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association tournament Monday at the Executive course.

Despite 100-degree temperatures, the tournament attracted 44 players.

Both golfers shot 56 over nine holes on the par 60, 3,600-yard course.

Also playing in that age group were Bethany Calvert, Rylee Hamlin, Courtney Jersic, Jill Smith and Krista Toomer.

In the girls 9-11 division, Tori Peers had 49, with Jayde Woodworth at 57.

Shyanne Dixon won the girls 12-14 tournament, shooting 45. Emilyne Biggs had 53, with Ashley Myers at 60.

Jasper Biggs had 38 and Hailey Forry 40 in the girls 15-18 division.

In the 12-14 boys tournament, Elliott Owens won with 36. Josh Spradlin had 40, Shea Duerler 44, Zack Harris 45, Shawn Dixon 46, Anthony Worden 47, Dustin Hodge 50, and David Markwell 51.

Isaac Shook shot 48-33--81, with Daniel Spradlin at 53-44--97 in the boys 15-18 tournament.

Nick Harris had 41 and Chance Walker 45 to lead the boys 7-8 group.

Also playing were Andrew Blodgett, Dakota Jersic, Craig Moore, Devon Ronnow, Lucas Tietjen, Marc Worden, and Kane Woodworth.

Kyle Steib had 43 and Derek Moore 45 to pace the boys' 9-11 tournament. Sam Tietjen had 46 to finish third in the group that included Parker Erickson, Hunter Fulton, Colton Hall, Kelby Lindberg, John Miller, Erick Randall, and Josh Willing.
