Teen night The Nye Communities Coalition, in partnership with St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church, will host a teen night from 6-9 p.m. today at the Pahrump Town Pool. Middle- through high school-age students are invited to come out for an evening of free swimming, food and fun. This is an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free event. Girl Scouts unite Girl Scout Troop 526 of Palmdale, California is sponsoring a "Support our Troop" fund raiser in Pahrump. Girl Scout troops throughout Pahrump graciously and without hesitation have agreed to join us in this fund raiser. We will be holding a white elephant sale and car wash. The event will be held on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bob Ruud Community Center located at the intersection of Highway 160 and Basin Road. Home ownership fair USDA Rural Development invites the community to Pahrump first annual home ownership fair, which will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Ruud Community Center. The event will feature food, raffle prizes and the opportunity to get information from various home builders, manufactured home dealers, appraisers, lenders, realtors and more. Call USDA Rural Development at 702-262-9047, ext. 4, for more information. Life Line Screening Life Line Screening will be at Faith Fellowship Foursquare Church Wednesday, 921 Highway 160, Suite 405. Screenings take less than an hour to complete. A complete wellness package, including the carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, ankle brachial index and osteoporosis screenings, is $129. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m. Call 1-800-697-9721 to schedule an appointment. School volunteer office hours The Nye County School District Volunteer Coordinator's office will only be open from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays during school break. Call the office at 727-7743, ext. 258 or 259 for more information. Car wash, bake sale The Boys & Girls Club will hold a club car wash and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the club, 2210 Mt. Charleston. New animal organization SNAPS has been created in Pahrump as a solution to stop the killing of unwanted animals and offers low or no cost vaccinations, spaying and neutering of cats and dogs and humane traps. SNAPS' next vaccination clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Comstock Park pool house. Call 751-8513 or 751-3923 for more information. Amateur radio raffle Southern Nye County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Inc., is hosting a raffle to raise funds for the group. Prizes include: One $100 gift certificate at Smith's Grocery, one $50 gift certificate at Smith's Grocery, one $50 gift certificate at Wal-Mart, a free car wash at Carbucks and assorted hand-made gifts donated by club members. Winners will be notified by phone and do not need to be present in order to win. The drawing will be Sunday at 11 a.m. during the ARRL "field day," which is scheduled the weekend of Saturday and Sunday in the parking lot of the Pahrump Nugget Hotel & Casino.
