Fall sign-ups slated at PVHS

All Pahrump Valley High School student-athletes must have a physical examination every year. So, the following information, provided by the PVHS athletics department, is key to any prospective Trojan athlete intending to compete in fall 2007.

To participate in high school athletics, boys and girls must have:

Appropriate physical examination/registration on file in the PVHS athletics department; physical examinations must be done by licensed physicians, not chiropractors;

Health insurance coverage; a student may purchase coverage through the school if he or she is not already insured.

Forms will not be available until July 2.

Important dates to remember are:

July 2, physical and registration forms will be available in the PVHS main office; summer hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Aug. 1, early registration will be held from noon to 8 p.m. in the PVHS athletics office; enter through the main front doors. Student-athletes should bring their completed physical examination and registration forms.

Aug. 8, final registration will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Again, completed forms should be presented.

Aug. 9, first day of football practice.

Aug. 13, first day of practice for boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, and girls golf.

Bowling club sets tourney

The Pahrump Valley Tournament Bowling Club will hold a 9-pin no-tap tournament Saturday, with squad times at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Nugget.

The tournament is open to active club members only. H&M Wholesale Pipe and Supply and Laskowski Construction are sponsors. Entry forms are available at the Nugget Bowling Center, Bowlers Corner and at Terry Hand Realty, as well as on the Web site, pahrumpbowlers.com.

8-ball league lists leaders

Arnie's No. 1 leads the Pahrump Valley 8-Ball League with a 16-6 record.

At 14-8 is Town Hall No. 3, with Town Hall No. 2 and Town Hall No. 1 both at 13-7. Our Bar No. 6 Pros is at 6-14, with Our Bar No. 5 Cons 0-20.

Sharks' football to start Aug. 9

The Rosemary Clarke Middle School football season will begin with registration Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. in the school gym.

Student-athletes must bring a completed physical examination form, proof of insurance and $50 in cash or a money order to cover fees.

Practice begins Aug. 13. Contact the school for further information.
