A baseball fan doesn't have to be around him for very long to realize that veteran umpire and Pahrump Little League president Lou Banuelos has a real passion for the game.

MEETING TONIGHT: ASA softball to talk about going co-ed
Pahrump's chapter of the Amateur Softball Association started league play in April and now is about half-way through the season. But with another division forming, it appears the league's members just aren't getting enough of the game.

LAS VEGAS -- Rollie Batayola is scheduled to play in Event 38 -- a $1,500 buy-in no-limit Texas hold'em tournament -- Saturday in the 38th World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino, ending a two-week break for Pahrump Valley competitors.

Southern Nevada District 4 Little League baseball tournaments will begin June 27, with 9-and 10-year-old teams to play at Cheyenne Park in Las Vegas.

Perhaps the best way to describe the action at the Pahrump Valley Speedway this past Saturday evening is to quote one of the comics, "Zits," which ran in Sunday's Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The 2007 World Series of Poker began June 1 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino. The tournament ends July 17.
