Skate Zone retro dance Skate Zone will host a retro disco dance at 7 p.m. Sunday. Take off your skates and dance to a mix of classic '70s and '80s dance tunes. Family to Family June calendar The June class schedule for Family to Family Connection, located at 160 S. Emery, is as follows: Thursday -- Family vehicle safety program, 3:45 p.m. Friday -- Nevada Early Intervention Services explore and learn play group, 11 a.m. June 29 -- Pediatric first aid, 1 p.m. Parenting class is at 3 p.m. every Wednesday. Call 751-5898 (se habla español) for more information. Horse, burro adoption The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a special adoption event Friday through Sunday at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo, in Las Vegas. The entrance to the Park is adjacent to Jimmy Durante Drive. Follow the BLM signs to the adoption site. There will be an excellent selection of about 30 Mustang yearlings, geldings and mares and 10 burros for qualified adopters through the Adopt-A-Horse or Burro Program. They are vaccinated, wormed, healthy and looking for a family. Many of the Mustangs and burros were gathered from the Spring Mountains Complex near Las Vegas in January or from other public lands throughout Nevada. The animals may be previewed on the BLM's Web page at www.blm.gov.nv.st.en prior to the adoption. The Mustangs and burros will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Horseman's Park. Call (866) 4MUSTANGS for more information. Car wash, bake sale The Boys & Girls Club will hold a club car wash and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the club, 2210 Mt. Charleston. Teen night The Nye Communities Coalition, in partnership with St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church, will host a teen night from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Pahrump Town Pool. Middle- through high school-age students are invited to come out for an evening of free swimming, food and fun. This is an alcohol-, tobacco- and drug-free event. New animal organization SNAPS has been created in Pahrump as a solution to stop the killing of unwanted animals and offers low or no-cost vaccinations, spaying and neutering of cats and dogs, and humane traps. Open schooling shows Pahrump Open Schooling shows will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 and Nov. 3 at McCullough Arena (corner of Highway 160 and Basin Road). Card players wanted Hand and foot canasta is played about once every three weeks at 10 a.m. at the Elks Club. Card players and newcomers are welcome to participate. It is an easy game to learn.
