MEETING WEDNESDAY Commissioners to consider zoning map, truss factory
By MARK WAITE
Nye County Commissioners are scheduled to vote on the zoning map for the Pahrump Regional Planning District at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. County commissioners will hold two days of meetings, beginning Tuesday. The Pahrump Regional Planning Commission recommended approval of the zoning map, drawn up by Hogle Ireland consultants, by a 6-1 vote Wednesday. In another planning matter scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, commissioners will consider amending a professional services agreement allowing Charles Abbott and Associates, the county's contracted building inspectors, to conduct fire inspections. That comes in the wake of the retirement of longtime State Deputy Fire Marshal Tony Capucci. A bill amending the Nye County code relating to zoning animal uses, is scheduled at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. Last month, some animal owners protested they weren't included in the deliberations made by an ad-hoc animal committee and persuaded the county commission to table the matter. Sunstate Components of Nevada will request a conforming zone change for 12.95 acres at 3200 S. Ironwood Avenue for a truss factory in an item following those timed discussions Wednesday. The Tuesday meeting includes a 10 a.m. item to adopt a bill setting fees for disposal of solid waste. That will be followed by a presentation on a facilities committee's recommendations on the relocation of county offices. New modular buildings are being erected at the government complex on East Basin Avenue to allow more room for court expansion. The Calvada Eye building is also being renovated for county space. Commissioners are scheduled to set a date for a hearing on a bill amending regulations on impact fees for economic development. An amended contract is up for approval with Mary Ellen Giampaoli to continue work on the Nye County Public Lands Act. A cooperative agreement is up for approval with the town of Pahrump over administering benefits of development agreements. The Nevada Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management is requesting a cooperative agreement with Nye County on a statewide interoperable communications system. A $264,120 bid to pave the Amargosa Valley Community Center parking lot is up for approval. BEC Environmental Inc. will report on their work under an economic development contract and request up to $120,000 under an expanded contract that extends through June 30, 2008. Requests for qualifications for airport planning services will be considered. |
