Women's self-defense classes set next week
The world can be a frightening place for a woman, but that doesn't mean women have to become victims of an attack, rape, or assault. The Nye County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Homeland Heroes, will be conducting a two-day women's self-defense class Monday and Tuesday. Classes are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days and will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10054, located at 4651 S. Homestead Rd. Nye County Sheriff's Office law enforcement officers instruct the class. Participants must attend both classes and will learn how to avoid becoming the victim of an attack as well as what to do if attacked. The classes are free of charge and open to any women 18 or older, (although young women 16 or older are welcome to attend with parental consent). To register for the class or receive more information, contact Denise Pilkington at 513-8636. |
