Quiznos Sub now open
By MARY BALDASANO
The new Quiznos Sub is open and ready to take your order. The grand opening was held Tuesday, yet many customers were there the evening prior to opening, standing in line and ready to pay for a good sandwich. Located on Highway 160 across the parking lot from the Saddle West Hotel-Casino, the shop has an excellent line-up of food items to include, Prime Rib Cheese Steak, Prime Rib Peppercorn, Baja Chicken, bread bowls, and flat bread salads and a lot more. Owner, president, CFO Veda and Lorenzo Ceballos moved to Pahrump three years ago after spending four years in Tanzania, Africa. Veda said, "It was a whole different world over there. But when we came back, we had an empty nest so I decided to start my own career." Rather than work for someone else though, she decided to open a business. After attending a seminar in Las Vegas about franchises, they decided on Quiznos as they both liked the food. Lorenzo works for Gamin Gold International Mining and is vice president of projects. He travels for and with the company to international locations for developing mining projects. Lorenzo said, "I'm glad Veda has something for herself that she can enjoy. Sometimes I'm gone for long periods, and now without the children at home, it will keep her busy." Veda commented that they have hired "15 locals to work for us of virtually every age. We are an equal opportunity employer and are members of the Chamber of Commerce." She added, "The Quiznos Corporation has been very good to us in setting up the business and getting the training our personnel needed. They were very good at helping to prepare us on all store requirements." The Ceballos are very active. When not working at the store or traveling overseas, they are big sports fans and attend many types of ball games. They also enjoy boating, fishing, camping, and RVing. Veda does a lot of reading and relaxes when she can. They say smokers are welcome at Quiznos and have a patio area where they can enjoy their meal as well as their vices. "It's not cheap starting a Quiznos. In addition to the initial outlay for the franchise, you have to purchase equipment, find a contractor, and hire employees. It's a lot of work, but worth every bit of it," said Veda. |
