High schools foster not only some of the nation's greatest minds, but often times are also where some of the greatest future athletes plant their roots.

The awards ceremony Wednesday night in the Pahrump Valley High School gym wasn't only a time for scholarship recipients to shine, but also an opportunity for those who worked hard in the classroom and on the field long after the last bell rang to be recognized as well.

Amanda Leseberg was recognized for her Outstanding Contribution to Pahrump Valley High School Athletics.

The awards for Outstanding Scholar/Athletes were given to Class Valedictorian Reynaldo Veloz and Michelle Dannenberger.

Jeff Holly was named Outstanding Senior Athlete.

The Four-Year Letter Winners were: Kody Daffer, Portia Hill, Jeff Holley, Michelle Dannenberger, Desiree Fortin, Steve Kelley, Jeremiah Ward, Jessica VanBuren, Abi Gill, Annie Klassen, Reynaldo Veloz, Brittany Highland, Dominique Maloy, Angelica Villa, Carrie Musick, and Nick Owens.
