The Pahrump Senior Division Little League baseball team advanced its record to 5-1 with back-to-back doubleheader sweeps of the Summerlin South Rangers last week.

Coach Brandon Bietar's 15- and 16-year-olds defeated the Rangers 14-5 and 9-8 at Summerlin, then routed the visitors 23-5 and 6-2 at Honeysuckle Park Saturday.

Cody Nielsen had five hits in the first game Saturday, as well as being the winning pitcher. In the second game, Danny Cazier and Corey Veloz shut down the Rangers to complete the sweep.

Pahrump Valley is at home Saturday against the Red Rock Cardinals, with the doubleheader starting at 10 a.m., following Little League closing ceremonies.

In an American Legion Silver Division baseball twin bill Saturday at Eldorado High School in Las Vegas, Pahrump Post 22 defeated Henderson Green Valley 20-5 and Henderson Foothill 9-5 to launch its season.

Post 22 is at home Monday against Las Vegas Calvary Chapel. The doubleheader will start at 5 p.m. at Honeysuckle Park.
