May speeds to arrest
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
James Michael May, 24, of Pahrump had his Memorial Day weekend cut short when he was arrested after a routine traffic stop for speeding and drugs were discovered in his vehicle. May was zipping along in the area of Highway 160 and Rainbow Avenue when sheriff's Deputy David Boruchowitz pulled him over for speeding. Boruchowitz reportedly "received information leading him to believe there was narcotics in the vehicle," the sheriff's office said, not specifying what exactly that information was. So Boruchowitz called up his fellow officer, Dep. Deutch, who brought with him to the scene his K-9 partner, Deputy Chico. Deputy Chico indicated from an exterior search that there were narcotics in the vehicle. After a further consensual search, Boruchowitz located 3.7 grams of marijuana stored in the conventional plastic baggie, as well as a baggie with .8 grams of methamphetamine in it. May was arrested and booked on basic speed, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine. His bail was set at $5,744. |
