Streams flow through more than books
By MARY BALDASANO
Streams in the Desert, located at 421 S. Frontage Road, Suite 1, is not your normal Christian bookstore. You expect to see cards, religious jewelry, baby items, gifts, Bibles, etc, and this is true of Streams in the Desert. You will also, however, see a lot more. Open since May 1, Jerry and Kay Landwehr also provide a specialized service to those who prefer homeopathic cleansing and healing of the body and soul. Many people have not heard of the unusual treatments available at the store. These include hyperbaric oxygen treatments, Miguin mechanical/massage bed, and colon hydrotherapy. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments require the person to place himself in a large rubber bag. Water is then added as well as pure oxygen, which causes the same feelings one would experience 400 feet below the ocean's surface. Kay quickly emphasizes that this treatment is used to "remove the impurities of the body by forcing them out with the use of pure oxygen throughout the body in conjunction with pressurization." It takes about one hour to complete. Kay explained that the "Miguin bed uses infrared lights that flow through your body while you are massaged and relaxed." Again, the purpose is to remove impurities and reduce stress. This treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Colon hydrotherapy is, as implied, the use of water to clean the colon. This treatment is used by those who have not found relief from problems through conventional medicine. It is also used by individuals who prefer only homeopathic methods to cleanse the body and soul of impurities. A very special, not to mention expensive, piece of equipment requires certification of training in order to operate it; Kay has this certification. To obtain more information about this service, visit the store and speak with Kay, she'll be happy to answer your questions. The therapy takes about one hour to complete. Kay adds that "these treatments are referenced in the Dead Sea Scrolls as having been used thousands of years ago. All of these treatments are completely painless, and are reliable in the uses they are designated to do." The store also offers an ionic foot bath to relieve foot pain and other related issues. In addition to the treatments above, the store offers a limited line of vitamins intended for use with the treatments, and those for use by pets. Religious information on the difference between Christians and others is available, but is mostly aimed toward Christians. Jerry said, "I always thought of natural things and even more so now." Having nearly died from treatments used by regular doctors, he swears by the use of homeopathic methods. The store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and also evenings by appointment. If you have questions regarding prices or products, or wish to schedule a treatment, call 775-751-6988. |
