Sr. Olympics in November

The third annual Pahrump Senior Olympics will be Nov. 1-4.

Events include basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, dance, power lift/fitness/weight training, 9-hole golf, 18-hole golf, golf skills, horseshoe pitching, single-action pistol shooting, tennis, 5-K run, sudoku, track and field, walk, and football punt, pass & kick.

Eligibility is in two age groups: 45-49 for Masters and 50 and over for the Senior Division. Contestants can choose as many of the events as they wish to partilcipate in.

At the end of the four days of competition, there is a dinner and awards ceremony.

Donations, either in money or gifts, are being sought for gift bags to be presented at the dinner.

Checks should be made payable to the Pahrump Senior Olympics, 601 S. Highway 160, No. 500, Pahrump, Nev., 89048.

Nevada Senior Games, Inc., has been providing athletic opportunities for seniors since 1985. All contributions are tax-deductible. Of the net proceeds, 50 percent are dedicated to help support the Pahrump Senior Center.

Pool roundup

The Pahrump Valley Pool League completed its 8-ball season, with Town Hall No. 2 winning the title.

On the team -- which earned $1,000 -- were Ricardo Cortez, Tony Cortez, Bill Kearr, Ricardo Cortez Jr., and Keith Lawrence.

The overall 8-ball individual was Gary Barcus.
