2007 Sharks' schedule out The 2007 Rosemary Clarke Middle School football season begins Aug. 9 with registration at 6 p.m. Practice starts at 6 p.m. Aug. 13, with the first games Sept.8 with games at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Subsequent games are Sept. 15, at Overton Moapa Valley Warriors, 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m.; Sept. 21, at Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sept. 29, at Overton Moapa Valley Bisons, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Also, Oct. 6, home vs. Warriors, 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m.; Oct. 13, home vs. Faith Lutheran, 10 a.m. and noon; Oct. 20, home vs. Bullhead City, Ariz., 10 a.m. and noon, and Nov. 3, home vs. Ely White Pine, times to be announced. Bret Hart is the Sharks' coach. Packets now available The athletic registration/physical examination packets are now available at Pahrump Valley High School. They can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. just inside the main doors to the right. The forms are newly-revised and all physical examinations must be on these forms; any other forms will not be accepted. Any student planning to participate in football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, cheerleading, drill team, or girls golf must complete a registration packet and get a new physical exam performed by a licensed physician. Completed forms can be turned in Aug. 1 from noon to 8 p.m. or noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at the high school. To be eligible to start preseason workouts, all documentation must be completed by Aug. 9 (for football) and Aug. 13 (for the other sports and/or activities). All-Nighter July 28-29 The annual Pahrump Softball All-Nighter One-Pitch Slow-Pitch Softball tournament will be played July 28-29 at Petrack Park. The games will begin at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $150 per team that are PVSA registered (for the 2007 season). It is $175 for non-members. It is open to all men's and women's teams in Class E. For information, call Ken Causey at 727-6413. If anyone is interested in announcing softball games at Petrack Park on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, contact Causey at 727-6413. Jones named coordinator Kay Jones has been named the coordinator for Special Olympics of Nye County. Special Olympics offers sports for special-needs people who must be at least eight years old. Offered are bocce, bowling, basketball, and track, with work continuing on adding other events. Athletes and volunteers are needed; for information, contact Jones at 751-4942. Bowling will start Aug. 6 at the Pahrump Nugget, with Stephanie Boseck as coach. |
