LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL Pahrump 10-11s 1-1 in District 4PVT Pahrump Valley's 10-11-year-old All-Stars, with Chad Uyeno striking out nine, defeated Western 7-1 in the first round of the District 4 Little League Baseball tournament Saturday, at Childrens Memorial Park in Las Vegas. The win, the first for any Pahrump representative in District 4 tournaments this summer, advanced the team to the championship quarterfinals against Mountain Ridge Monday. Mountain Ridge, which had downed Summerlin North 10-1 in a first-round game, defeated Pahrump 10-3 to move into the winners' bracket semifinals. Isack Rodriguez hit a 3-run homer for Pahrump. Pahrump took on Red Rock Tuesday night in an elimination game. In other first-round games, Red Rock defeated Cheyenne 11-5, Lone Mountain crushed Red Rock 11-0, and Peccole downed Spring Valley 17-7. In an elimination game, Summerlin North ousted Cheyenne 6-2. Other Monday results: Peccole 5, Lone Mountain 2; Summerlin North 11, Western 1, and Red Rock 7, Spring Valley 4. Pahrump's Major (11-12) Division team lost 10-0 to Summerlin North and 19-2 to Mountain Ridge in the District 4 tournament at Vista Park in Summerlin. In other games, it was Spring Valley 11, Western 0; Red Rock 12, Cheyenne 3; Summerlin North 7, Lone Mountain 6; Spring Valley 9, Summerlin South 3; Peccole 8, Mountain Ridge 2, and Cheyenne 3, Western 0. In the Junior (13-14) Division playoffs at Childrens Memorial Park at Lone Mountain, Pahrump was outslugged 12-8 by Cheyenne and fell into the elimination bracket, where the team played Red Rock Tuesday night. In other games, Summerlin North downed Spring Valley 16-6, Peccole stopped Mountain Ridge 6-5, and Lone Mountain defeated Red Rock 8-3. The Senior Division (15-16) team will take on Summerlin at 5 p.m. Friday at Childrens Memorial Park at Lone Mountain. The winner will face Red Rock at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the loser returning to an elimination game at 5 p.m. Monday. Other tournament games are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 p.m. July 18. |
