Letting Bush scoot on Scooter
I feel obliged first to belabor the obvious, which is that George W. Bush has been an utterly disastrous president.



Freedom of speech ... what would Jesus do?
WASHINGTON -- In January 2002, in Juneau, Alaska, Joseph Frederick had the sort of idea that makes a teenager seem like one of nature's mistakes. Last week, after five years and the attention of 13 federal judges, Frederick became a footnote in constitutional history.


Give some credit where credit is due
Paul Newman is a good actor. I really liked him in "The Sting" when I was a high school kid. I didn't get to many movies at that age, what with football, baseball, basketball and chores, but that movie is one I'll never forget. Great ending.

No mobile DVD in this minivan ... yet
No, we do not have a DVD player in our minivan. That phrase has disappointed countless friends and relatives, ages 5 to 17, in the past few years. From the reaction the phrase evokes, we must be the only minivan family in existence without a DVD player strapped to a seat or dangling from the ceiling.
