Fred Cooper

Private services will be held for Fred Cooper, 81, who died June 23, 2007, at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

He was born March 29, 1926, in Texas. He was a 15-year resident of southern Nevada.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948. He later retired from Weyerhauser Co. in North Bend, Ore.

His children Steve Stavros Codekas of Oregon and Lenora Rollingson of Costa Rica; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren survive him.

Hope there's whiskey and Copenhagen in Heaven. (06/23/07).

Eva Sochia

Services are pending in Pennsylvania for Eva B. Sochia, 71, who died June 30, 2007, at Desert Regional Center Hospital.

She was born May 9, 1936, in New Castle, Pa. She was a resident of Evergreen Rehab for 10 years, coming from Newcastle, Pa.

She retired in 1997.

Her sisters Florence Haney and Dorothy Hovis, both of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.

Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death. (06/30/07)

Omer Snowden

Services for Omer F. Snowden, who died July 2, 2007 in Pahrump will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pahrump Community Church.

He was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Covington, Ky. He was a resident of Pahrump for 20 years, coming from Arizona.

Snowden was a fireman captain at the Nevada Test Site, and a member of the VFW. He was an Air Force veteran and served in Korea from 1952 to 1956.

His wife Jean of Pahrump; daughter Cindy (Gaylon) Baker; sons Jim (Lynn), Dan (Mechell) of Pahrump; stepson Dan (Fe) Ehle of Californai; sister Virginia Simpson of Nevada and brother, Jack Snowden of Florida survive him.

His parents and a sister preceded him in death.

Thomas Birdwell

Services for Thomas William Birdwell, 65, who died July 4, 2007 will be held July 14 at 2 p.m. at Choice Hills Baptist church in Pahrump.

He was born April 21, 1942, in California and was a resident of Pahrump for nine years. He served in the Navy for three years and was an auto mechanic by trade. He retired in 1995. He was also a member of the Wild West Gun Club.

His fiance, Linda Allman; daughter, Tracy Sulprizio; brother, Addie Birdwell; sister, Shirley Birdwell; nephew, Addie (Lee) Birdwell Jr.; five step siblings and one grandchild, Dani survive him.

His parents and one sister preceded him in death.

James Wright

Services are pending for James Dean Wright,. 51, who died July 3, 2007, in Pahrump.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1956. He was a resident of Nevada for three and a half years coming from California.

He was a truck driver employed with the sanitation company.

His son, Bryan King; daughter, Christine Mora; mother, Florence Jolby and sister, Catheline Wright survive him.

His wife Sue and father preceded him in death. (07/03/07)

Leroy Cox

Services for Leroy Cox Sr., 84, who died July 3, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at 6200 S. Eastern in Las Vegas.

He was born in 1922 in Red Bay, Ala. He moved to Pahrump in 1995 and loved it here.

Leroy served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a diesel mechanic.

He is survived by children Marilyn, Peggy, Butch, Kathie, Richard, Sandi, Leroy Jr., Gail and Vickie; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He will be very missed, but family and friends look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. (07/03/07)
