Inferno today; juniors Monday The 12th annual Inferno Open Golf tournament will be played today at the Lakeview Executive course, with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. Winners in men, women and senior divisions will be determined in the 18-hole medal-play event. Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association tournaments resume Monday, with other summer events July 16 and July 23-24, when the Goins Memorial Tournament will be contested. Fall events are Sept. 8, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, and Dec. 1. NCSA league games begin The Nye County Sports Association youth basketball league began play last week and will continue through Aug. 17, in two age groups. The 13-18-year-olds will play at 8 tonight, with Team 3 (All Star Realty) taking on Team 4 (A.L.L. Sport Apparel). Also in the league are Team 1 (Horizon Market) and Team 2 (Super Burrito). The 10-12-year-olds compete at 7 p.m., with Team 3 (Papa John's) facing Team 4 (Dr. Leak). Team 1 is Michael Taylor, D.C., while Team 2 is Precious Properties. Names of the players and coaches were incomplete, with last names missing for all but three players and every coach. Games will be played Thursday and Friday, as well as July 12-13-19-20-26-27 and Aug. 2-3-9-10-16-17 in both divisions. All-Nighter July 28-29 The annual Pahrump Softball All-Nighter One-Pitch Slow-Pitch Softball tournament will be played July 28-29 at Petrack Park. The games will begin at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $150 per team that are PVSA registered (for the 2007 season). It is $175 for non-members. It is open to all men's and women's teams in Class E. Fall sign-ups slated at PVHS Forms will now available at Pahrump Valley High School for student-athletes planning to compete in the 2007-2008 season for the Southern Nevada Class 3-A League Trojans. All Pahrump Valley High School student-athletes must have a physical examination every year. So, the following information, provided by the PVHS athletics department, is key to any prospective Trojan athlete intending to compete in fall 2007. To participate in high school athletics, boys and girls must have: Appropriate physical examination/registration on file in the PVHS athletics department; physical examinations must be done by licensed physicians, not chiropractors; Health insurance coverage; a student may purchase coverage through the school if he or she is not already insured. Important dates to remember are: Now, physical and registration forms are available in the PVHS main office; summer hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Aug. 1, early registration will be held from noon to 8 p.m. in the PVHS athletics office; enter through the main front doors. Student-athletes should bring their completed physical examination and registration forms. Aug. 8, final registration will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Again, completed forms should be presented. Aug. 9, first day of football practice. Aug. 13, first day of practice for boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, and girls golf. Sr. Olympics in September The 2007 Nevada Senior Olympics will be held Sept. 22 through Oct. 21 in Las Vegas.
