Gerald E. Wesley, 27, learned the hard way that a gun is not a toy when he was arrested last Saturday for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident that occurred the Saturday before.

Sheriff's Dep.'s Boruchowitz and Otteson were dispatched June 19 to a location on Pocahontas Avenue after a report of shots being fired.

Investigation by the deputies revealed that Wesley and Victoria Rogers, 49, had a verbal fight which then reportedly resulted in a road rage incident between the two that ended in the area of Pocahontas and Moccasin avenues.

According to the sheriff's office, Wesley allegedly drew a .22-caliber rifle from his vehicle and fired a number of rounds at Rogers' vehicle.

Wesley left the scene while further investigation revealed that he was an ex-felon.

The alleged shooter was located four days later by Dep. Kakavulias at the Wal-Mart Tire and Lube Center.

Wesley was arrested and booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and aiming a firearm at another person.

His bail was set at $1,500.
