The Trojan Hall of Fame will induct its first class in Fall 2007, with procedures already under way to find at least five athletes, coaches and/or administrators worthy of inclusion.

Brian Hug, the athletics director at Pahrump Valley High School, came up with the idea and went to work organizing a selection committee, which includes PVHS Principal Kent Roberts, coaches Jason Odegard, Bob Hopkins and Marcus Cornelius, and teacher and former coach Rod Poteete.

"The Hall of Fame honors those who have excelled in one or more high school athletic programs sponsored by PVHS," said a release from Hug. The Hall will "honor and recognize outstanding individuals who have had a significant and lasting impact on the lives of Pahrump Valley students for their involvement in high school athletics."

Eligible for Hall of Fame induction are student-athletes, coaches and activity advisors, school administrators (including superintendents, principals and athletic directors), and contributors.

Student-athletes must have graduated at least five years previous to the nomination cutoff date. The others must have had a positive impact on prep athletics.

For nomination forms, contact the athletics department at 727-7908. In order to be inducted, a candidate must receive the votes of five of the seven committee members.

There will be more on the Hall of Fame in the Wednesday edition of the Times.
