Jim Petell went before the Pahrump Town Board last Tuesday with his concerns about the way the blackouts of Dec. 13 and 16 were handled by local law enforcement and emergency services personnel.

Support meetings

21 students advance at Dragon Cloud
Sensei Jose D. Hernandez, of Dragon Cloud Dojo, recently tested his largest class to date. Twenty-one students tested for advancement: 11 white belt students tested for their yellow belts, and 10 yellow belt students tested out for advanced yellow belt.

Chamber reviews its 2006 initiatives
Membership in the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce has grown to more than 570 members, 50 more than a year ago, Chief Executive Officer Kari Frilot told almost 200 attendees at the annual inauguration dinner at Mountain Falls Golf Club Friday night.

WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday he is considering candidates to sit on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission but will not insist that the person he picks oppose a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain.
