The top Pahrump Valley and Nye County sports stories of 2007: NO. 1: REALIGNMENT: Pahrump Valley going to 4-A, the NIAA dictates There is no question that Pahrump Valley High School being shifted Class 4-A by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association is the top sports story in 2007. Tonopah, once thought to be headed back to Class 2-A, remained in Class A, along with Nye County's Beatty, Round Mountain and Gabbs. 2007: THE TOP 10 STORIES The top Pahrump Valley and Nye County sports stories of 2007: NO. 3: Tonopah wins first-ever football title 3 In 2004, Tonopah left Class 2-A, where 11-man football is played, to become a member of the Nevada Class A Eight-Man Central Division. NO. 7: MOTORSPORTS TAKE HIT: T-Town 250 gone; speedway to close Motorsports in the Pahrump Valley is in the pits ... literally. NO. 4 & NO. 5: PV girls win state 3-A title; Dominique claims 15 In 2001, only a relay team represented the Pahrump Valley High School girls' team at the Nevada Class 3-A State Track and Field Championships. In 2002, no girl made it to the state meet. NO. 2: Football: a program in dire straits, with litte hope to progess without right coach Pahrump Valley's football team was 3-7 in the 2006 season, but made it to the Nevada Class 3-A playoffs. In the 2007 campaign, the Trojans were 0-8-1 and were competitive in only two games -- a 24-20 loss at Phoenix, Ariz., Christian and a 34-34 tie at Yucca Valley, Calif. NO. 6: Lady Trojans three-peat in state 3-A golf Nevada's Class 3-A girls golf teams won't have Pahrump Valley to kick them around anymore. NO. 8: PVHS HALL OF FAMERS NO. 9: Pahrump Senior LL goes to regionals 9 Pahrump Valley's All-Stars, after winning the Nevada Senior Little League baseball title, continued their quest for national honors at the Western Regionals in Salem, Ore., last summer. NO. 10: Trojan teams record seconds The 2006-2007 Pahrump Valley wrestling team finished second in the Nevada Class 3-A state tournament, after running its championship streak to three seasons in Southern 3-A league and regional competition.
