Idea of protecting 'morals' is off track
Sometimes, when even events here in Pahrump veer abruptly into what one author would have called Cloud Cuckoo Land, you have to step back and try to get a grip on the question of consistency, or the lack thereof.

Don't know about you but I'm anxious to put 2007 to bed.

Letters to the Editor

Serving it up every day
OAK BROOK, Ill. -- To gauge this pell-mell nation's velocity, visit here with Jim Skinner, CEO of a company on pace to have a net income for 2007 of $3.46 billion, up 12.7 percent, on revenues of almost $23 billion. The evolution of McDonald's mirrors that of the nation in which it serves 27 million customers a day.

Goodness and giving
What a great time of year! I'm a sap for the Christmas season and all of the goodness that accompanies it. I love the music and the warmth of friendships and family and the nostalgia of childhood Christmases. And most of all, I love celebrating the birth of Christ.

Wringing out Old Year before ringing in the new
Before ringing in the New Year, we have to prepare. We have to do a little housecleaning. We have to wring out 2007. This will have to be a figurative "wringing out," as those of us residing in the Southeast have been experiencing severe drought. Nothing in these parts can become saturated enough for literal wringing out.
