Reward offered for taggers' arrest
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
An anonymous $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the capture or arrest of the person or persons who marred the historical mural on the outer wall of the school district office with graffiti. Nye County Sheriff's Office Capt. Bill Becht said the vandalism was reported Sunday, Dec. 23. The Latter-Day Saints church across from the district office, at West and Wilson streets, was also tagged, Becht said. The sheriff's office is investigating possible leads. The mural is a community project spearheaded by local artist Andrew Sabori with the help of local students from Pahrump Valley High School. It depicts the history of Pahrump through renderings of historical people and places, such as the first school house and the old Hafen Ranch. Sabori has since gone to the site to see what can be done to fix the damage. Anyone with information about the taggers is asked to contact either Superintendent Rob Roberts at 775-727-7743 or the sheriff's office at 775-751-7000. |
